More than six out of 10 women felt he should not be afforded the honour.  The President has faced repeated accusations of sexual harassment.  Sources close to his administration insist that President Trump, an ardent admirer of The Queen, is still keen on an official visit, despite recently cancelling a trip to open the new US Embassy.  However, in the poll of 2,021 people, more than half – 56 per cent – answered “no” when asked if the US President should be given a State visit.   Less than a…

Charlie Sykes: Is Trump’s presidency becoming normal?

Get the Think newsletter. SUBSCRIBE Even though Donald Trump’s poll numbers continue to be abysmal, there seems to be something of an anti-anti-Trump backlash underway in GOP circles. Never-Trump conservatives have never been a particularly robust group and their numbers seem to be dwindling by the day. Now, they are taking friendly fire. Even the venerable Trump skeptic David Brooks suggests in The New York Times that Trump critics have not only gone too far in their opposition, but actually seem to “be getting dumber.” While Brooks appears to be…

Dr Paul Miller, who served on the US’s National Security Council (NSC) under former presidents George W Bush and Barack Obama, believes if another world war was to break out it would be in the Baltic states.  According to the former White House staffer, he predicted Russia’s invasion of Crimea in 2014 two years before it happened and he now warns that Vladimir Putin plans to claim more territories in eastern Europe. Dr Miller first unveiled his forecast for the Baltics in 2016 and despite recent provocations from North Korea…

A year into 'America First,' the world eyes US – and Trump – with less trust

The House intelligence committee released 184-pages of sworn testimony on Thursday by Glenn Simpson, the former Wall Street Journal reporter whose opposition research into Donald Trump spawned a controversial dossier that ultimately was handed to the FBI. It was the second release of Congressional testimony by Simpson, and it contained no Earth-shattering revelations, but Simpson went into much greater detail with the House committee than he did with the Senate judiciary committee about his research into Trump’s alleged business dealings with Russians and organized crime figures, in passages that at…
