Nokia 3310 gets brand new rival, but it may NOT be released in the UK

Nokia’s revamped 3310 was the surprise hit of 2017.

The revived Nokia 3310 brought a swathe of upgrades to the original and hugely popular classic, including a colour display, new design and a camera.

One thing it was missing was the lack of support for super-fast 4G data speeds, with it at launch running on a 2G network.

This was first rectified with a 3G version released late last year, and then Nokia earlier this month announced a 4G LTE version.

The Nokia 3310 4G model has so far only been announced for China, with a release in other regions uncertain.

However, the latest entry in the 3310 family could already be facing competition from another Nokia phone.

The Finnish communications giant is reportedly working on another 4G feature phone that could be unveiled at MWC 2018.

NokiaPowerUser has reported that a Nokia phone with the model number TA-1047 has just received FCC clearance and received Bluetooth certifications.

The upcoming 4G feature phone will allegedly sport a QWERTY keyboard, much like the iconic traditional Blackberry phones.

It will allegedly have measure around 5.5 inches diagonally and boast a 3.3inch 480×480 resolution display.

It will also reportedly be powered by a Qualcomm 205 processor, running KaiOS.

It remains to be seen if Nokia’s latest 4G feature phone will have a similar limited release like the 3310 4G model, or a worldwide launch.

But fans shouldn’t have much longer to wait to find out, with Mobile World Congress (MWC) just around the corner.

MWC 2018 kicks off on Monday February 26, and Nokia could use the tech extravaganza to reveal more details on the new Nokia 9.

This flagship is rumoured to include a edge-to-edge display, a powerful Snapdragon 835 processor and a dual-lens rear camera setup.

MWC 2018 would also be the perfect opportunity to announce whether the Nokia 3310 4G model will be getting a worldwide release, and to unveil the TA-1047.
